Short answer: yes. Black Opium Neon, the fruit-bright version of Yves Saint Laurent's Black Opium launched in 2019, is no longer part of YSL's main line-up, so it's only available while existing stock lasts. What does Black Opium Neon smell like?
Neon keeps the coffee and vanilla base that made Black Opium famous and lifts it with fruit.
- Top: dragon fruit, mandarin
- Heart: orange blossom, jasmine
- Base: coffee, vanilla, white musk
The opening is bright, almost fizzy. The florals soften the middle, and the familiar coffee and vanilla come through underneath. It's the most playful scent in the Black Opium family and the least wintry: where the original leans towards evening, Neon holds up in daylight.
How is it different from the original Black Opium?
The original Black Opium Eau de Parfum is a darker, evening-leaning scent built on black coffee, white flowers and vanilla. Neon keeps that base but puts fruit at the top, so it reads lighter and sweeter. If you love the original but want something for daytime or warmer months, Neon is the closest cousin.
The bottle
Neon uses a longer version of the Black Opium bottle, covered in black glitter like a sequinned dress, with the signature round window showing a bold neon pink. Collectors look for it boxed and sealed in its original packaging.
How to tell you're buying genuine, sealed stock
Because Neon is no longer made, it now turns up on resale sites as part-used bottles, testers and samples. If you want a full, sealed bottle:
- Check the cellophane. A new bottle arrives in a sealed box.
- Match the batch code. The code printed on the base of the box should match the one on the bottle.
- Buy from a UK seller with a clear returns policy, and pay by card or PayPal so you have buyer protection.
Every bottle we sell is sourced sealed and genuine, in its original packaging. We dispatch within 1–2 working days by Royal Mail Tracked, and you have 14 days to return it if it's unopened (see our returns policy). It works all year. The fruit makes it brighter than the original, so it's easier to wear in daylight and warmer weather.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 14 days, as long as it's sealed and unopened. Once a fragrance has been opened we can't take it back for hygiene reasons, unless it's faulty or not as described.
